The festive time of year is without doubt full of activity , but is is fun? for most of us we push the money to the limit ending up in outstanding hardship. For the sake of a few days and some token gifts. It is crazy, to create this much stress in our lives and then to free fall in to anxiety and stress about how we will live / eat for the next few months.

The trick is focus , Stress and anxiety are a bi-product of our actions and reactions to situations, learning how to get positive focus is a skill that only a few , perhaps 1 or 2 % actually have. But it can be learned. I do not want you to just knee jerk and buy my product or service , I want you to ask yourself how important it is to create change in your life. If you want to have a better experience of life and the wealth it can bring then you need to be able to create positive focus . The result of this is that greater action will follow in any direction you want it to exist.

What and how will this effect you ?

Simple . Learning to focus on the correct end point will push the limits of possibility far more than any self help tape, CD or Book . The Focus technique I teach will get you to create exactly what you want. It is simple straight forward and effective. no buzz or ring not skill required other than you doing a few simple steps to generate exactly what you need and want and how then to allow it into existence .

The payment is a flat fee of £35.00 , once you have them I will offer further instruction on an ongoing basis via this blog on how to generate significant change in your life.

You can stay where you are , or decide now is the time to make a change and get a huge result in your life. I want you to have the result and generate greater and greater focus in any given area you choose .

For more information you can email me at david@davidcorcoran.com or visit my web site

Introduction:

This is an introduction to the Corcoran “ Focus Beads” and the array of uses that they can be put to in the area of personal performance.

The focus beads have been developed from the techniques used in my Hypnotherapy practice over a period of the last 5 years bringing together the teachings and tools from Clinical Hypnosis, NLP, EFT, and the law of attraction.

This document is designed to illustrate just how simple it is to create change in the individual, taking them away from the constant negatives that exist in their minds and propel them into positive states that offer a greater degree of possibility.

While the actual beads are simple in construction, they are a most powerful tool. Used correctly they will alter any fixed position, and present the user with an array of possibilities that can enhance their experience of life.

For centuries Beads have been used to relieve nervous tension, perhaps the best known is that of the Greek “ Worry Beads”. While many investigate the never ending streams of self help books and therapies, looking for a teaching or a belief system to take away the worries of everyday life, few understand that they themselves are indeed their best and most competent therapists. The following examples of using the Focus Beads to create positive change will demonstrate just how good each and every one of us is in working through any situation / problem to create a better more desirable result.

The technique is simple and needs only a small amount of rehearsal prior to the actual application on a presenting issue or problem.

It is important to understand that the majority of the time we focus on negative internal conversations representing conflict to the desired state of mind that we wish for. On the whole this is down to the programming and learnings we have taken over time from parents, television and the media. We are bombarded with reasons why we cannot have what we want rather than being shown how to get what we want without so much as a simple change in our mind.

If you were to ask any highly successful individual if they ever knew the steps to their success prior to getting what they want, the answer would be, in every situation NO, they knew what they wanted, this may have been a pipe dream but because their focus on the want was so strong so compelling the want soon manifests into a reality. Over time when they look back they see the steps they have taken from the position they were in at the time but while they were on the journey they only had the outcome in mind, so strong, so powerful, was the focus that the emotional want was reinforced to such a degree that it produced massive action without them ever being aware of just how motivated or how much action they were engaged in.

The learning here is that the stronger the focus and the weaker the negatives attached to the focus the more the reality comes into existence.

The beads are available now together with a “how to” manual illustrating just how easy it is to use, the beads come with instruction on self-hypnosis pdf, and an audio hypnosis cd for Stress and Anxiety.

We are presenting a set of workshops over the next 12 months designed to introduce individuals to the techniques that can create Positive focus instantly in their lives.

The tools and techniques have been taken from the highly successful practice of David Corcoran who has become a well-established and regarded clinical hypnotherapist.

David said. “ It is a true privilege to be able to take these techniques out to a wider audience, for many the idea of going into a therapy setting is met with resistance and is not what they believe they want. The workshops offer a greater number to come and participate for a period of 2 to 3 hours in a dynamic, and FUN, setting giving them the opportunity to see the tools being used and to watch, in others, the ease of creating change. It explains the use of Focus and how important it is to develop an ability to focus on the positive aspects of life. They will learn what in the past has been keeping them away from getting what they want and see how simple it is to change, and more importantly keep the change for good”

In addition to the focus work, the workshops introduce the tools of self-hypnosis and illustrate the importance of using self-hypnosis as an add-on to our daily / weekly routine.

The locations for the workshops are still under development and it is hoped that we will be holding 1 to 2 per week throughout the UK and later Europe.

David said “ I welcome any invitation to speak, be it in a private session or to a business audience, the setting makes no real difference as the content of the talk’s can be conveyed due to the simplicity of technique, in any setting / interest group”

We welcome you at this time to make contact by clicking on the link below, registering your interest in the workshops. We will keep you informed in the form of a diary supplement and newsletter as to the news and dates regarding these highly energetic events.

Anxiety and the physical effects.

I thought it time to add this content to my web blog to offer a clinical understanding and case specific outline of anxiety and the effects that it can have.

Recently I have been working with a number of clients who have come to me with anxiety issues that have rendered them both as physical and mentally disabled. The following outlines a case and indicates the effectiveness of using hypnosis to get a mental release of the condition.

•Please note that the names and personal information have been changed to protect client’s identities.

The client is female (on this occasion); she came to my practice unable to walk unassisted into my therapy centre. After listening to her history and understanding that there were obvious reasons for her condition I proceeded to use the Hypnosis to establish the first time she experienced the problem. The content that came up was indeed highly emotive and allowed her to, now disassociated, create a different understanding and set of learning’s relating to the issue and so releasing the created anxiety at that time. At the end of this phase she appeared to be physically more able, demonstrated by the obvious reduction in the tension she previously experienced in her muscles and body.

I did further work based on her sleep pattern and agreed to create audio work that she could use to help her to get improved sleep. Asking her to pick it up from my office the following day.

As she left my office her husband noticed both the tremendous state of mental and physical relaxation and commented upon ho little assistance she needed to be helped back into the car.

The following day she reported that while there was no anxiety present in the morning she had experienced a spasm that had affected her. However this was due to her feeling significantly better and trying to accomplish more than she, at that time, was capable of.
She further reported that later in the day she had been flying in a light aircraft with 3 others, her husbands first flying lesson. I asked if there was any anxiety prior to, during or after the event and she reported no, but once again she had a spasm after being confined for a period of 1.5hrs in the plain. This indicated once again that the muscle wastage and frailty of the client had created the issue yet there had been no anxiety presenting.

We discussed at this point realistic expectations relating to her physical frailty and created an understanding that this would improve once she exercised (in small measurable steps) and eventually she would regain greater muscle strength reducing further her lack of balance and physical constraints.

On the next visit to my office I was stunned to see that she was driving, This was more than either I or the client had expected yet she felt so much stronger of both mind and body that she was happy to drive her car some 45mins to my office. The session that followed indicated a 90% improvement in all areas of her mind and created such a confidence in the client that she was happy to go on a holiday that previously she had been dreading.

I am still amazed by this client and reminded me that while I may have some amazing tools at my disposal to help to create a change in the individual. It is not about me far from it. It is all about the individual and the ability they have inside there mind to accomplish the most amazing changes in there lives.

Some need more some need less but this affirms in my mind and experience that we all can benefit from change, and in making that change things can improve immediately.

Cancer is an illness that affects millions of Americans, whether they are currently being treated or in remission. Two of the most common symptoms of cancer and cancer treatments are pain and nausea. Hypnotherapy has been proven to help cancer patients reduce the severity of their cancer symptoms including pain and nausea. It is important that alternative methods are explored in order to help people naturally improve their symptoms.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 560,000 Americans will die from cancer in 2009. Cancer is the number two cause of death in the United States behind heart disease. Men have a 1 in 2 chance of developing cancer in their lifetime and women have a 1 in 3 chance of developing cancer in their lifetime.

A clinical trial tested the effectiveness of hypnosis and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) on treating pain and nausea in cancer patients. The researchers evaluated whether hypnosis or CBT were effective in treating the symptoms of 67 cancer patients. The patients that participated in the clinical trial were recipients of a bone marrow transplant (Syrjala, Cummings, & Donaldson, 1992).

A bone marrow transplant is needed when a patient’s bone marrow has been destroyed or is not functioning properly. Cancers that often require bone marrow transplants include leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. A transplant occurs when bone marrow is taken from a healthy individual and implanted into the cancer patient. This process involves many symptoms including pain and nausea (Medline Plus).

The clinical trial randomly divided the participants into 4 groups. Group one received hypnosis. Group two received CBT. Groups three and four served as control groups where group three had access to a therapist and group four received normal treatment. All patients participated in psychological and physical testing. Groups one, two, and three received their respective forms of therapy twice before their transplant operation. While in the hospital for their transplant, they also received 10 sessions.

At the end of the trial, 45 patients were still involved in the study. Results of the trial showed that hypnosis was effective at reducing pain experienced by bone marrow transplant patients. There was no difference between the hypnosis and the CBT groups in relation to reducing nausea. CBT was found to be ineffective at reducing pain with the participants (Syrjala et al., 1992).

This trial shows that hypnosis is an effective treatment in reducing pain. More research needs to be performed to find out all the potential benefits of hypnosis and pain. Treating pain with hypnosis is a natural and safe form of treatment.

Diets don’t work, they can be pretty miserable, and by dieting you place yourself at a greater risk for the development of an eating disorder. Diets don’t cause eating disorders (ED), but most people who develop an ED were dieting at the time they got into trouble. Dieting also tends to lead to an increased focus on watching calories, fat or carbs – a focus that can become a fixation for someone predisposed to an ED.

Save yourself the misery – diets just don’t work, and worse, they can harm. Learn the facts.

Dieting Facts

Dieting slows the metabolism. Your body “thinks” it’s in a period of famine, and slows down to conserve essential energy and nutrients.

Dieting can lead to nutritional deficits. Vitamin deficits are linked to a host of cancer and calcium deficits can lead to early osteoporosis, weakened thinning bones, and fractures.

Your body needs food energy, and when it gets insufficient caloric intake, things start to go badly. Dieting can result in thinning hair, dizziness and a lack of co-ordination, dehydration, slowed heart rates and weakness, and a loss in muscle tissue and strength.

Dieting even affects your mind, both your intellect and your mood. People on diets have less mental energy; a lessened ability to concentrate and even reduced neuro-muscular reaction times. Regular dieting is also linked with increased rates of depression.

Who Diets?

About half of all American women are on a diet or trying to lose weight at any one point in time.

Of college women, 91% had dieted and 22% dieted with frequency.

Between 40% and 60% of still growing high school girls are on diets at any one time.

46% of 9-11 year old girls have dieted.

Americans spend 40 billion dollars each year on dieting products.

Diets Don’t Work!

An astonishing 95% of dieters regain any weight lost through dieting within 1-5 years, and that cycle of weight gain and loss reduces heart health, and impacts on metabolism in long-lasting ways.

All statistics from the National Eating Disorders Association

Be healthy – yes! Eat healthy – yes! Diet – NO!!!

Be happy in your body, and if you’re overweight, lose weight through lifestyle changes that include healthier eating and greater physical activity. Real changes that take commitment and results that won’t appear overnight, but that can last forever.

Diets hurt your body, they won’t help you lose weight, and if you’re thinking you’ll be happier if that diet does help you lose that excess weight, be very careful, as thoughts like this can get people in trouble.

No one factor triggers an eating disorder, but diets and a fixation on food and eating can so easily push you across that invisible line. And once concern becomes compulsion, and focus - a fixation, the challenges and dangers mount tenfold.

Be happy and proud, and enjoy each healthy bite you take!

Diets just don’t work. 95% of dieters regain any weight lost within 1-5 years, and since futile dieting can harm your health as well as increase your risks for an eating disorder - say no to diets!

Those with bulimia nervosa binge and purge as weight control but also as an emotional outlet and coping mechanism.

Purging is self defined, and individual habits will vary. In general, bulimics eat enormous quantities of food in a single session and immediately thereafter purge, most commonly by vomiting or with laxatives, and less commonly through periods of fasting or extreme exercise.

Older teen girls and younger women account for 80% of all bulimics, although men and older adults may also suffer the disorder. Unlike anorexics, bulimics tend to know they have a problem, and will agree more readily to treatment.

Problematically though, bulimics will generally purge only in private and maintain a relatively normal weight – making it tougher for friends and family to spot the problem.

Most bulimics begin purging initially as a means of weight control, and find that the cycle of binging and purging also offers them feelings of release from negative emotions - Bulimics purge after binging to control weight, but also to relieve emotional distress or tension and many bulimics report brighter moods after having completed a binging and purging cycle. The frequency of binging and purging can vary from occasional episodes at one end of the spectrum, to many times a day in more serious cases.

Bulimia is a mental health disorder, requiring of professional treatment and therapy. Bulimia in extreme cases can be fatal, and treatment is more successful when intervention occurs early in the disease progression. Although perhaps not as lethal as anorexia, bulimia does cause a wide range of physical health symptoms.
Signs of Bulimia Nervosa

Since bulimics respond better to treatment with earlier intervention, it is important for loved-ones to be aware of signs that may indicate a problem.
Indicators of Bulimia Nervosa

* Always heading to the bathroom after meals
* The smell of vomit in the room or on the person, or laxative packaging found
* Unusual food disappearances
* Finding evidence of food hoarding, or hidden stashes of food wrappers
* Rounded cheeks, evidence of swollen glands caused by frequent purging
* Tooth decay or discoloration (acid damage from vomit)
* Social isolation
* Mood swings, depression
* A preoccupation with food or expressed worries about being unable to stop eating
* Excessive exercise or fasting
* A strong preference to eat alone

Health Risks of Bulimia

Bulimia can, in rare cases, be fatal - but bulimics risk many serious health and wellbeing complications from their behaviors, including:

* Tooth decay, sore throat and bad breath, from vomiting
* Dry skin and hair loss
* A risk of gastric rupture, in extreme cases of binge eating
* Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance after excessive purging -This dehydration (and incorrect levels of sodium and potassium in the body) can lead to poor heart functioning, kidney and liver damage
* Dizziness, headaches and fatigue
* A loss of menstruation
* Ruptures of the esophagus
* An enlargement of parotid glands (rounded cheeks are a symptom)
* Stomach pain, diarrhea, and constipation
* Cardiac arrest and possible death

Bulimics use binging and purging as a way to control negative emotions. Bulimics report feeling some release from feelings of depression or anxiety after purging, but this relief is only temporary, as purging, of course, cannot better problems with self-esteem, body-image issues or anxiety.

Bulimia is a serious condition, and is recognized as a mental health disorder, requiring both medical and psychiatric treatment. Most bulimics recognize that their behaviors are problematic, and most will agree to treatment if asked to go. It is therefore very important for loved-ones to remain vigilant to signs of bulimia, and ready to intervene if necessary.

If you want to stop smoking for good then you need to read the this, as a hypnotherapist one of the most common issues that I am asked about is how to stop smoking, there are many methods used to assist individuals to quit but ver very few appear to have a high percentage chance of success . I , like Alan Carr and others treat smoking , not and an addiction , but rather as a habitual problem. Ask any smoker if they have had periods of time in thier lives when they have not smoked, either for a few / several hours , or days / weeks and they will be able to tell you that they were able to stop smoking for that period. In fact 99.9% of smokers can tell you that they do not have an addiction but rather a habitual problem fueled by anxiety about quiting and what the imagined withdrawal symptoms may be. {this is a test of the member area }
